Poleman Jason Plato, running 45kg of success ballast in his works MG6, led for much of the event, but came under increasing pressure as the race progressed.
Jordan and works Honda driver Matt Neal both made good starts to outdrag Frank Wrathall and chase Plato.
Neal dived by Jordan at Agostini to snatch second just before half-distance and took the fight to arch-rival Plato. At the same time, Gordon Shedden made his way past Wrathall and Plato soon had three Civics on his tail.
With the MG increasingly struggling through the Bomb Hole and Coram, things came to a head on the penultimate tour. Neal knocked Plato sideways through the fast Coram right-hander to take the lead, only for Plato to retaliate by hitting the Honda under braking for Murrays.
Both former champions went wide onto the grass, allowing Jordan and Shedden to shoot past. Plato got back onto the circuit in third, but Neal initially lost out to Wrathall and the chasing Tom Onslow-Cole.
Neal fought back past Onslow-Cole’s WSR BMW and regained fourth when Wrathall ran wide.
Jordan thus held on to win from Shedden, Plato and Neal, with Wrathall fifth. An incident-filled final lap for Onslow-Cole allowed Mat Jackson to secure a remarkable sixth in Motorbase’s new NGTC Ford Focus.
After his exclusion from race one, Dave Newsham charged his ES Racing Vauxhall Vectra from the back to finish eighth, while American Robb Holland secured his first BTCC finish with 14th in the Tony Gilham Racing S2000 Honda Civic.
