Sebastian Saavedra, Team AFS Racing / Andretti Autosport, No. 27

Saavedra finished today’s race in the second position, after qualifying eighth. This made him the biggest charger of the day.

“After a disappointing qualifying session and starting eighth, it is great to finish second. I’ll take that any day. It was a crazy start to the race and I was able to pass a couple of guys. From that point on, it was just a battle with the leaders. A big thank you to the #27 AFS Racing/Andretti Autosport crew. It was an amazing day for the team and also good for the championship points. I am looking forward to what comes next.”

Carlos Muñoz, Team Dialy-Ser, No. 26

Munoz finished today’s race in the 10th position. He qualified 11th and had moved up to third on the first lap, before making light contact with the tires. He was unable to get the car restarted.

“Today was not my day and I am disappointed with the way things turned out. We had a great first lap and were able to move from 11th to third. I wanted to advance to the front really quickly. In turn three, I saw Gustavo (Yacaman) brake early, so I tried to avoid him and went too far straight into the tires. My car wasn’t damaged badly, but would not restart again. I am looking forward to moving on and having a better result with my Andretti Autosport team in Edmonton.”

Zach Veach, Team K12, No. 77

Veach finished today’s race in the second position, after qualifying third earlier this morning. It was his second podium so far this season. The Star Mazda Series will race again tomorrow at 9:50am ET.

“We led the first practice session yesterday and had a good second session. Qualifying ended up going really well because we finished third. I think all of that just carried us into the weekend and our podium finish. We haven’t changed a single thing about the car since we rolled it off the truck at the start of the weekend. The team has done a really great job and I am happy to be a part of Andretti Autosport. They deserve this because it was been a tough year so far. I’m glad I was able to get the K12 car on the podium here in Toronto and I’m looking forward to trying to do it again tomorrow.”

Sage Karam, Team Comfort Revolution, No. 88

Karam qualified second for the first Star Mazda Series race today, but was unable to get the car started because something in the drive line broke.

“Today didn’t go as we had planned. We were starting on the front row, which is the best place we could be starting. Something in the drive line broke on the start, so we just had some bad luck today. We weren’t able to get a lap in, so I’ll have to start last in tomorrow’s race. It is quite unfortunate because I think the Andretti Autosport boys put an awesome car together this weekend. I think it will be an exciting race tomorrow. We’ll try to come from 21st and move our way to the front.”
