Renault Gives Pope Benedict XVI an Electrified Kangoo

A specially prepared Renault Kangoo Maxi Z.E. electric van was presented to Pope Benedict XVI at the Holy Father’s summer residence in Castel Gandolfo. Developed in cooperation with French coachbuilder Gruau, the vehicle was presented by Carlos Ghosn, head of Nissan-Renault. Not intended to replace the armored popemobile used for official public appearances, the Kangoo primarily is for use as a simple passenger vehicle around the grounds at Castel Gandolfo. A second, nearly identical Kangoo Z. E. was supplied to the Corps of Gendarmerie of Vatican City so the Pope’s security detail could be shuttled in an equally sustainable fashion. Read full story »
